Question: What kind of boilers do you repair?

I repair all makes and models. Generally speaking some boilers are easier than others when it comes to getting parts but essentially the mechanics are all the same.

Question: What happens if you can’t get the necessary spares?

There will be a reason for it. If I can’t get them we have to assume that nobody can. My sources are exceptional so failure to get spares is an incredible rarity

Question: What if the job takes longer than you thought?

You pay whatever fee we initially agreed and I will absorb the loss

Question: Do you offer an emergency call out service?

Of course, but this may be chargeable. I am more than happy to visit you for free to give an estimate, but if you want me there at 3:00AM I’m likely to want paying!

Question: You say you are the cheapest in Birmingham, is this true and if so how do you know?

It’s impossible to prove, but I have been in the trade for a long time, and I have worked for others as well as myself. I do the job properly. By this I mean I actually spend the time to diagnose the problem. It would be quick for me to change several components and charge for it, when in fact only one may need changing or adjusting. By working ethically I like to think that repeat work and referrals will make up for any initial loss of revenue. I am so convinced by my honest pricing process, that I ENCOURAGE potential clients to shop around.

Question: How quickly can you get here?

Very quickly! I am after all Super-Shayne, and I can be in North and South Birmingham at the same time thanks to my Super Boiler Powers. Er… If I am to be totally honest there are three of us, so that’s just as good as being Super-Shayne isn’t it? You will see when you make the enquiry, how sophisticated and practical our system is when it comes to managing bookings. You will know exactly when you can be attended to within 30 minutes of making the enquiry, or sooner.

Question: Free diagnosis for boiler repairs - is this true?

Yes it certainly is. There are conditions however.

Condition 1

The boiler and controls must be accessible. Occasionally I am asked to look at a boiler that is "Built In" - so taking cupboards apart or lifting carpets on your behalf does not feature as far as the free diagnosis is concerned. We can tackle inaccessible boilers in two ways. You can make it accessible before I get there, or I can charge a nominal fee to make it accessible for you. Once the boiler can be reached the free diagnostic procedure starts. I hate to sound like I am moving the goalposts. My diagnosis IS FREE, but it isn't fair to expect me to do an hours work before I can even see the boiler, when you consider the work I am there to do is a free service.

Condition 2

I have only recently added this condition and I felt embarrassed doing it. You would be surprised however by how many people suddenly seem to be taking advantage of my free diagnostic call out. I had one chap, who called me out because his boiler guy was unable to diagnose the fault, he used me for the free 30 minutes and then used his guy to do the work. This is totally against the spirit of the agreement.

I will gladly do a free diagnosis for 30 minutes. You will not be charged for it. Once the diagnosis has been done, and provided that my rates are as competitive as I have implied throughout this site, I would of course expect to get the opportunity to do the work. If you choose to use someone else that's no problem, but a nominal £20 fee will be charged. If you choose someone else for a fair reason, such as me being unable to source a part quickly enough, then no charges will apply. I'm sure you agree that this is a fair arrangement for all parties.

Why should I use Shayne instead of using a major UK company?

Shayne gets boilers at discounted rates. He pays less than you will pay. Shayne is happy to supply the boiler at cost in order to get the installation work. The final invoice WILL BE LESS than you would pay a national organisation. Shayne offers a price promise and WILL NOT BE BEATEN ON COST

Does Shayne offer a boiler replacement service?

Yes. Shayne will remove your old boiler for you when installing a new model

What kind of boilers can Shayne install?

All varieties are catered for to include back boilers, combi boilers, & system boilers

How long will it take to complete the work?

Shayne can do a survey for free, within a day or two. This way a new boiler can be agreed upon. Installation can take a full day depending on the complexity of the installation.

What if we have a boiler already and we just want fitting?

No problem. Shayne doesn’t make money on boilers anyway so a fit only deal is absolutely fine.
